Bob has been an active member of numerous camellia growers' associations since the 1960's, and has recently served as the President of the American Camellia Society.

Bob's garden is one of the largest private camellia gardens in the world, and includes over 4,500 potted plants.  In addition to cross-breeding new camellia varieties, Bob has worked internationally to bring new flowers to the US, including the long sought yellow camellia from China.  He has been responsible for the introduction and naming of several new species.
